I honestly believe that reading bedtime stories will make kids appreciate books more. It will foster love of reading. The kids will also appreciate your time together and will see this as your bonding time together. The kids will look forward to sleeping at night too.
I totally agree. My nephew loves bedtime stories but I don't know kung binabasahan pa rin siya ngayon kasi mostly TV, yung cashier na binili ko or iPad ang inaatupag niya. Hay... kahit anong sabihin ko sa parents niya na wag muna pagamitin ng kahit anong gadget eh ayaw makinig sa akin. I'd rather see him browse (kahit browse nalang at wag read) than play an iPad. But sadly, its their kid and not mine.
ReplyDeleteEspecially in my case, since nasa teaching field ako most parents yan ang reklamo. Their child/children would spend most of their time using the computer or psp. Ang sakin naman, syempre binibilan nyo e so talagang gagamitin nila. Not unless they set rules.
ReplyDeleteSaka reading aloud actually enhances reading comprehension in kids. So it all starts in reading stories di ba. So start the reading habbit! haha
Tama ka sis! Ang kinaiinisan ko lang sa parenting skills nitong brother and SIL ko eh pag nagta-tantrum, ibibigay nila yung phone nila para tumahimik. Tapos ang reasoning nila para sa iPad kasi educational naman daw yung mga apps. Ok fine, educational nga kaso ang point ko lang, which is better, may interaction yung bata sa TAO or interaction sa computer? Syempre mas ok pa rin na tao ang magtuturo sa kanya than matutunan lahat sa media.
ReplyDeleteI have student before. The family was supposed to go to church so while preparing themselves, this grade two boy was playing computer games while waiting. Then bigla bigla nalang daw nagtantrum, nagtanggal ng shirt, sumisigaw. So panic mode ang parents. Ang reason: NATALO SYA NG COMPUTER SA GAME! So di na nakasama si grade 2 boy sa church. This was what the mom said when I called. It happened last year.
ReplyDeleteNawawala na talaga ng interaction ang kids sa ibang tao. I would prefer piko, chinese garter and all as games e haha!
Ako din! I taught my nephew "Nanay Tatay gusto kong tinapay" hahaha!!! Then I taught him how to make an imaginary house out of blocks. Ang parents niya kasi walang ka-creativity sa katawan. Like his UN Day Project, majority nun ako nag-isip. Parang ako na nga daw yung parent sa sobrang career haha
